He wanted a business where he could offer great customer service and really help his family, friends, neighbors and community!
His wife Dianna joined him a few years later and they ran it themselves for many years. In 2005, I (Dana Johnson) became an agent and joined the staff. Dan passed away January 2, 2014 and is greatly missed. Before his passing, he made his official retirement in 2012 and handed down the agency to me. I am honored to keep on my father’s legacy of excellent customer service for our community!
My mom still works part-time and helps with running the business. We also have employed Courtney Jennings, employed since 2017 and a licensed agent, as well as Jessica Ryan who’s our customer service representative.
We are active community members and sponsor or participate in the following programs (and many more): youth little league teams through the Strasburg Rec and Kiowa Youth Athletics; our local 4-H kids raising livestock; Byers & Strasburg Booster club; the Deer Trail rodeo; Hometown Days; Bennett Days; etc. I grew up in Byers and live in Strasburg now…being able to live, work, and raise my family in the community I love is very important to me.
I grew up very active in sports, playing volleyball, basketball, track and softball. Most days now I am watching/coaching my own kids in a variety of sports, but every now and then instead of coaching or watching I still do a little playing myself. My family also enjoys camping and boating (when the sports schedules allow for it). 😉 My faith is also very important to me – my family and I are active parishioners at Our Lady of the Plains Catholic Church in Byers.
